MATAR (GREEN PEAS) PANEER

North Indian Cuisine - Matar (Green Peas) Paneer

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Heat 1 tbsp of Kissan Desi Ghee in a pot on medium heat. Once the oil is hot, add 2 green cardamoms and 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds. Sauté until the spices are fragrant and the cumin seeds crackle. 
  2. Add the onion, ginger, and garlic. Cook for 4 to 5 minutes, until the onions are light brown and soft.
  3. Mix in the chopped tomatoes. Cover the pot and cook for 6 to 7 minutes, or until the tomatoes are soft.
  4. Remove the mixture to a bowl and let it cool down a bit. Once it has cooled down a little, transfer it to a blender and puree it to a smooth paste. Set it aside.
  5. Heat a tbsp of Kissan Desi Ghee in a pan on medium heat. Add bay leaf.
  6. Then add the prepared onion-tomato paste back into the pan and mix well. Now add 2 tbsp of Kissan Fried onions and 
  7. Add 3 tbsp Kissan Curry Masala, 1/4 tsp Kissan Garam Masala and 1/2 tsp of turmeric. 
  8. Whisk in 2 tablespoons plain yogurt, and stir it continuously until it mixes well.
  9. Then add water to the pan and let it come to a boil.
  10. Add the paneer cubes and green peas. Stir and then cover the pan. Let it simmer for 6 to 7 minutes on medium heat.
  11. Add 2 tbsp of Kissan Fried Onions and 1/4 tsp of Kissan Garam Masala and mix well on medium heat for a minute. 
  12. Garnish with cilantro and serve Matar Paneer with some warm parathas!
