PRAWN CURRY

South Indian Cuisine - Prawn Curry  

Cook Time: 30 mins Course: Main Cuisine: South Indian Servings: 3

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp Kissan Madras Curry Powder 
  • 1/2 tsp Kissan Garam Masala 
  • 5 tbsp Kissan Coconut Oil
  • 300 g Prawns (cleaned)
  • 1 tbsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tbsp Turmeric
  • 1 tbsp Coriander powder
  • 1/2 tbsp black pepper powder 
  • 15-20 Curry Leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2  tsp Fennel Seeds
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 1 cup chopped tomatoes 
  • 1 tsp Ginger (chopped)
  • 2 tsp Garlic (chopped)
  • Salt as per taste
  • Fresh Coriander for garnish 

Instructions:

  1. Heat Kissan Coconut Oil in a pan.
  2. When the oil is hot, add the mustard and fennel seeds and allow them to crackle for a few seconds.
  3. Add onion and ½ teaspoon salt and cook until onion turns slightly born in colour.
  4. Add ginger, garlic and curry leaves and cook for a minute
  5. The add tomatoes and cook for 3-4 minutes until tomatoes are mushy.
  6. Now add Kissan Madras Curry Powder, coriander powder, turmeric, red chilli powder and Kissan Garam Masala and cook for a minute.
  7. Add a cup of water. Cook the dish for 3–4 minutes over medium heat with the lid on.
  8. Add prawns and black pepper powder. Cook for another 5-6 minutes.
  9. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
